About the Cleveland
Cultural Gardens Federation
The Cleveland Cultural Gardens are a collection of public gardens in Rockefeller Park, each representing a different ethnic group that has contributed to the heritage of Cleveland. The project began in 1916 with the Shakespeare Garden and today includes 30+ gardens stretching along East Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The nonprofit Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation oversees the gardens, acts as a liaison between partner organizations and the City of Cleveland, and hosts events including the annual One World Day celebration. Each garden is sponsored by the relevant ethnic community organization.
For the Philippine Cultural Garden to be recognized, we must demonstrate community support, organizational capacity, a compelling design vision, and the fundraising ability to build and maintain a permanent garden.

Build Community Awareness

Establish the Organization

Secure Community Support
Build relationships with Filipino-American organizations, AAPI groups, Cleveland civic leaders, and the Cultural Gardens Federation.
Apply for Federation Membership
Submit a formal application to the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation, demonstrating community need, organizational capacity, and a design vision.
Design the Garden
Work with the community and landscape architects to create a design that authentically represents Philippine culture, history, and identity.
Break Ground
Build the Philippine Cultural Garden in Rockefeller Park, a permanent home for Filipino-American heritage in Cleveland.
